Digital Radiographs
Digital x-rays are similar to the traditional film method in that a sensor plate is inserted into your mouth to capture images of your teeth. Although this sensor resembles film, it has an electronic connection to a computer. Once the x-ray is taken, the image is instantaneously visible on the computer monitor.

There are several benefits to using digital radiographs over traditional film. The equipment used in digital x-rays exposes the patient to 80% less radiation than film. Digital x-rays can be enlarged or magnified for a better visual. The brightness, contrast, and color can all be adjusted to allow for better image quality and diagnosis of your dental health. Digital x-rays are also environmentally friendly because they do not require chemicals, film, or space to develop.

Intraoral Camera
Seeing is believing! Our Polaris intraoral camera allows us to take instant magnified photos of your tooth so that you can see exactly what we see. Decayed teeth, enamel fractures, broken fillings, and gum disease are all enlarged and visible to you on the computer monitor. The camera reveals the early stages of potentially serious problems, allowing you the opportunity to prevent small problems from escalating. This is especially useful to see conditions that cause damage without pain.

The intraoral images also provide comfort and understanding for patients who may be suspicious or hesitant of the recommendations we give them, especially when they do not feel any pain. If you can actually see the fracture or decay on a computer monitor, you will better understand the importance of why we are recommending certain treatments.
